About the Author
SUSHIL K. KHETAN, PhD, a research chemist at the Institute for Green Science in Carnegie Mellon University, has been working at the confluence of environmental and green chemistry. Earlier he worked in the agrochemicals industry and published two books on environmentally-friendly pest control technologies. He has consulted globally for several international organizations.

This is a very useful review that provides an excellent introduction to endocrine disruption

This is a very useful review that provides an excellent introduction to endocrine disruption. I have read almost every monograph on endocrine disruption available on Amazon, and this book contains the best and most current review of the endocrine disruption effects of mixtures that I have seen in the monographic literature. Other chapters that I appreciated were on epigenetic and transgenerational effects of endocrine disruption.

A book for scientists only

The author describes in detail a range of mostly synthetic endocrine disruptors, their actions, mechanisms, effects of mixtures, a short course on epi-genetics, removal/destruction of these chemicals, testing and such. The book is aimed at those directly involved with research. For other readers, the book simply describes a myriad of potential problems which serves mostly to produce public "angst". I would have liked to see an expert, such as the author, giving an opinion of what is important and what is not. There in no use worrying about endocrine disruptors if the concentration in the environment is orders of magnitude below a possible negative effect. I worry that this book will be used by "environmental extremists" to bring scientific progress to a halt.
