Despite these challenges, Walt developed and executed an effective operational approach which addressed substantial enemy threats while supporting the government of South Vietnam and its military forces.

Very organized in both strategic and tactical analysis. Established the long known issue of multiple, dysfunctional chains of command (MACV, USMC and civilian) that General Walt had to circumnavigate.
